Of Villains and those who love them

The Republicans will have you believe that we have captured Super Human Terrorists. The only people that escaped Federal Prisons on the regular are cartoon characters and movie criminals. Some of the folks in county lock up are scarier than Taliban. But I know Dick “Defending my country until I die” Cheney has to do his scare America tour. He decided that he wanted to get ahead of public opinion. If I had his approval ratings, I would be talking to anyone who would listen. I wouldn’t let President Obama and the Democrats frame my legacy. But this fear mongering is getting old.

Let’s review the non-threatening individuals we currently have in our penile system:

The Bloods

The Crips

Mara Salvatrucha aka MS 13

Aryan Brotherhood

Mexican Mafia

Black Guerilla Family

Terrorism involves the use of violence to create a state of fear. This is done to intimidate or coerce individuals/institutions in order to gain control. We have neighborhoods in America that are as violent as Mogadishu. This is because of the gangs that terrorize the neighborhoods. On one side of the planet, you have terrorists obtaining money from the sale of opium in Afghanistan. On the other side, you have a gang that obtains money from the sale of cocaine from Bolivia. I’m pretty sure the groups above think they have the same clout as the Taliban. So why do we separate them from Middle Eastern terrorists? The discussion of putting terrorists behind bars in America is a false argument. Why? Because they are already here.

You would think as long as MSNBC was running their "Lockup" series on the weekends that people would be less fearful than now.

Damn good post!

Rippa - Thank you Sir. Yeah that "Lockup" series is an eye opener. I don't believe half the folks in Gitmo have anything on the criminals in "Lockup".

I've been saying this for a while.

What's the difference between a terrorist in your backyard versus the serial killer from the early 90s in the prison across the street from you.

Seeing as how it is NOT a daily occurrence about prison breaks, I'm trying to see what the problem is about Gitmo. Seriously, I can't tell you in my nearly quarter century life EVER hearing about a prison break where the streets were teeming with villains of all ilk.

It seems that our federal prison system is doing its job in keeping the bad guys in, i don't see how adding a few more should make a difference. And no doubt we already have some weirdo anarchists who hate America living in those prisons. Moreover, as you noted, I'm sure they're going to be dividing them up amongst other prisons, so they won't be some unified body like the Bloods and Crips and other gangs all in one prison beefing and fighting and maiming and killing each and everyday.

If you ever get some time, check out this video over at ForaTV on this subject and see just how historically this is drawn from the playbook of the British with the Habeus Corpus Act of 1679.

Diggin this post a lot Citizen!

The "Fear Mongering" as you have mentioned is beyond getting old, but then again when will we ever have a real war on terrorism on our own turf rather than meddling in foreign affairs adding more fuel to this already out of control fire?

Eye D.vs Mel O - Appreciate the love. No on wants to deal with "our" terrorism. Too many sins that we have to talk about.
