Great American Hood Heists - Waka Flocka Flame and Some Random Dudes.

Waka Flocka Flame (I can’t believe I’m actually typing this name) came to Charlotte NC in February to upgrade his tour bus stereo system. While he was enjoying our fair city his brother was an “almost victim” of an attempted robbery. Flocka Flame (real name Juaquin Malphurs) was hanging out with his fans in front of a car stereo store (how cliché is that) when the shooting began. The gunmen (Six Men!!!) were attempting to rob Flocka Flame’s brother of his jewelry. Flocka Flame’s brother was wearing more than $100,000 worth of jewelry.
Side Note: $100,000 worth of jewelry? Just let that sink in for a moment.
Who has that much Gold on? Or was it Platinum? I can’t keep up with the latest trends and fashions of the pseudo-rich. Eventually the robbers were caught and the shooting was in broad daylight so this should have been a closed case. NOPE!! The District Attorney was not able to close the deal on locking these would be robbers up. Although one person suffered a gunshot wound the witnesses could not identify the shooter. They also did not have evidence that the robbery took place. SAY WHAT?!?! Didn’t all of this happen in the daytime?? The court paperwork to dismiss the case said the following:
"There has been no identification by any alleged victim or witness of any of the six defendants as being present and/or firing a weapon during the incident. Although many details of the incident differ, these defendants were in agreement that no one who went to this stereo store had any intent to rob anyone, They said their intent was to 'chill,' 'hang out,' or 'holler at' the rap artist.”
Side Note: It’s obvious that the no snitching campaign has been a smashing success.
A lawyer for one of the alleged gunmen said his client “was an innocent bystander who only went there to talk to Mr. Waka about getting a record deal” If he had of seen the movie “Hustle and Flow” he would have known that never works. We have such a hard time locking people up around here. And when they are wearing their ankle bracelet, they just cut the thing off. What will it take before we can bring these criminals to justice? We need to do something fast because they are already starting out young.

A bad week for the Congressional Black Caucus.

Want to know why large pockets of Black America remain in great despair despite all our amazing post-Civil Rights era advances? Well, look no further than the incredible lack of vision and imagination of our Black leaders--be they elected officials, ministers and imams, public intellectuals, heads of social service organizations, educators, entrepreneurs, or grassroots activists.
~ Writer and Activist Kevin Powell
Last week the House ethics committee voted 9 – 1 to censure Congressman Charlie Rangel on 11 of 13 charges of rules violations. I guess 1 person thought it wasn’t unusual to not have paid taxes for 17 years. I wonder what the IRS would do if I stopped paying taxes for over a decade? Actor Wesley Snipes is getting ready to do a 3 year bid for not paying his taxes. I guess being in politics helps when it’s tax time. Fellow Congressman John Lewis testified on behalf of Rangel calling him "a good and decent man." Maybe that’s why 1 person voted against censure on 11 of 13 charges of rules violations. This is not a good look for the Congressional Black Caucus. They still have to deal with Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ upcoming ethics trial.
The CBC also spoke on behalf of Majority Whip James Clyburn’s campaign to become the Minority Whip. They let it be known that there might be consequences if Clyburn didn’t get the job. It’s kind of like when your drunken uncle shows out at Thanksgiving. A lot of tough talk but it’s just really more bark than bite. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, who originally created this conflict, solved the problem by giving Clyburn a #3 spot in the leadership last week. That’s like kids making up play titles on the playground. A kid can call themselves a cosmonaut without actually going into the cosmos. What does a #3 position do? Especially when you didn’t need one 2 years ago? I wonder what actually happened in that meeting the CBC had with Pelosi? Bob “pimping ain’t easy” Johnson was even writing letters to politicians promoting Clyburn’s campaign. I guess he finally realized that even his ole greasy self can’t influence them all. This is not a good look for the CBC. They showed that they can be easily swayed by backroom deals.
Congressman Allen West, who could pass for Radio Raheem’s dad, criticized the liberal leanings of the CBC. Meanwhile, he was attempting to gain entry into the organization last week. So the CBC could possibly have a tea party backed candidate in their caucus? That would be against everything that they stand for. But because he’s black they can’t turn him down. Imagine turning down a fellow black congressperson because he has Sarah Palin’s number in his cell phone? How would that look to black independents and republicans? This is not going to change the organization but it will change the way you look at them. Is this the beginning of more black moderates and conservatives joining the organization (that’s if they get elected)? It always starts with one person. If the CBC were smart, they would turn their meetings into a reality show. Why not make some money off the infighting that is going to take place? Ask the cast of “Jersey Shore” about it………………….
Yeah, last week was a bad one for the CBC.

Would you like some hot lead with that Pizza??
Another case of why they are building more jails than colleges. I hear black folks talking about how the system is taking advantage of young black men but that’s all who you see on the 6pm news. They aren’t walking across stages receiving diplomas and they aren’t being interviewed for coming up with a cure for a disease. They are robbing, raping and running for cops. Sure we could refute these images if there was a news program to counter that but we’ve been there already. Two young men lost their lives trying to rob a chain store that makes pizzas. This wasn’t some Oceans 11 type stuff. This was a step up from robbing a package store. This scenario isn’t just happening in my city of Charlotte. It’s being playing out across the nation. I hope the guy that killed them doesn’t lose his job. Although I don’t know how Pizza Hut will look down upon his form of “Rough Justice.”

Running the numbers with Baby Daddy.
An episode from last weeks HBO’s Hard Knocks showed New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie naming his children. Cromartie is accusing HBO of re-shooting the scene to make him look bad because people are saying he doesn’t know the names of his chaps. Of course, HBO has said that Cromartie is incorrect in his recollection of the event. If I had “8” children, I probably wouldn’t remember their names either.
*Side Note* Word on the street is that Cromartie has “8” children with “6” different women in “5” different states.
The real problem is that a “20” something year old man has “3” Three Year Olds!!!!!!! He didn’t say that they were triplets so um…..er….eh!!!! Did that man impregnate “3” women in the same year?? Dayummm!!! That’s just nasty!!! But he’s rich so it’s acceptable. Oh hold up! My bad – earlier this year the NY Jets advanced Cromartie “$500,000” for child support payments.
*Side Note* Please check out No Wedding, No Womb! America we are in crisis mode!!!
Cromartie has no one to blame but himself for this fiasco. HBO saw something that was bizarre and they milked it for what it was worth. That’s what they do on Tel-lie-Vision!!! I’m not going to stop watching HBO (if I could afford it) because they snookered a human sperm bank. I do hope that he has a long - long - long - long playing career so he will have something left after those child support payments.

How Did Things Get so Bad so Fast?: A Casual Gang Rape

I don’t know what father’s tell their sons about rape but they should tell them that “Gang Rape” is still rape. The age of the girl doesn’t matter. Rape is still Rape. I guess that this conversation isn’t going on because I keep hearing of girls being gang raped by boys. The brutal 2007 Dubar Village gang rape and torture of a mother and her son. The Richmond High School girl that was raped in 2009 as people just casually stood by watching. Could they have been that dumb to think that it was part of a performance from the drama department? Twenty or so people involved in the rape of a 15 year old outside of a school dance. When did things get so bad that gang rape has become casual?
“Oh, Jimmy what are you doing tonight? Mom, the fellas and I are going to gang rape Sally after the game. Okay honey; don’t forget to wear your scarf.”
Just when you think you can’t hear another story that turns your stomach inside out. When you believe you can’t be shocked and stunned anymore because you have heard it all. From the depths of Hell comes a story out of Trenton, New Jersey that makes you question the humanity of your fellow citizens.
Adults and juveniles were arrested for gang raping a 7 year old that was offered up to them by her 15 year old step-sister. I know I said step-sister but the word sister is still in there somewhere. The parents of the children also have two younger kids. It’s amazing that the 15 year old didn’t take all her siblings out for a gang bang.
So in this community a 7 year old has to watch out for male predators and her sister too? When did things get so bad that gang rape has become casual? Why didn’t decent common sense and morality kick in when the 7 year old was offered up on a platter? Where were the adult that was supposed to put an end to this underage freak show? Oh right I forgot, they were getting their rocks off with a 7 year old girl.
How did the 15 year old even know these miscreants anyway? Why would she take her 7 year old sister with her? What evil possess a girl to sell out her own family? What evil posses a man to have sex with a baby? Is this why whites are so afraid of black and brown skinned men? I want to have children one day but I am terrified of having a black girl. I won’t always be there to protect her from men that hate her very existence. Who will look out for her when I am not there? Can I count on my fellow citizens? Can I count on my fellow black men? Can I count on my fellow black sisters? Or will everyone just casually stand by?

Former Black Politicians - Where are they now?? The handshake & chicken dinner edition.
Then –
In 2008, Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was arrested on a 101-count federal indictment on charges of conspiracy, bribery, fraud, money laundering, and filing false tax returns. U.S. District Attorney Alice Martin claims Langford used the bribery money to buy audio equipment and luxury clothing items. These alleged acts took place when Langford was a Jefferson County commissioner. Langford said a day after his indictment “It's not business as usual. It's business more intensified than usual, now that I know what I'm dealing with, I can now turn all of my attention to carrying out my duties as mayor."
Now –
In 2009, Langford was found guilty of taking cash and accepting gifts. He was automatically removed from office and is currently awaiting sentencing. He could possibly face 805 years in prison.

Paging Davida L. Haywood Ph.D., Come get these BAD “A” kids!!!!

The problem is that these parents are inept and lack the skills it takes to raise children. A parent has the unique responsibility to raise their children to be productive members of society. That means that parents need to teach their children social skills. They need to keep up with their homework and what is going on at their school. Parents can’t help their children with science projects if they are at the club. I don’t know where the downfall of our society started. We have turned into a society where children raise children. Lately it appears that parents are scared of their own children. I listen to talk radio and what I’m hearing doesn’t make any sense. This talk about reparations keeps rearing its ugly head. How does a check help discipline children? You can have brand new educational facilities with all the latest and greatest, but what good does that do if you don’t have students that are focused. Thugs don’t have a need for new computers? You have got to change the mentality of these kids. It seems that it might be too late though. Dysfunctional parents have abdicated their responsibilities to the public at large. It is now society’s responsibility to raise other people’s children. The teacher has supplemented the mother and father. Because not all kids are bad but some are unfocused. They come from situations that are unbelievable at best. Jail bird fathers, mothers bringing home different men, and don’t forget the neighborhood itself. These are ingredients for a troubled childhood.
Sometimes though these kids make it out of high school and find their way to college. This is why I am paging Dr. Haywood. With her Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Higher Education, she is the last line of defense. She has her work cut out because she has two sets of problems:. Kids that are in college but aren’t college material (kids that weren’t disciplined students in high school..i.e. poor grades) and kids that are college material but have a screwed up mentality (i.e. narcissistic, lazy, etc.). I don’t wish this responsibility on anyone but I know Dr. Haywood is up to the challenge. Who else is going to get them ready for the real world? Should it be the stripper mother, absentee dad, or club hopping grandmother? Nope!! We tried that already and it just ain’t working. Someone is going to have to have to take charge and get these kids straight. It’s the new American Way – when someone doesn’t want to do their job they simply pass it on. And since we are passing the buck, why not give it to someone in the educational field. Besides, my suggestion to lock them in the basement was rejected.

No Country for Black Honor Students

Black Chicagoans stand by shaking their heads again after another week of senseless violence. The latest victim, 16 year old honor student Derrion Albert, was said to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. But that’s what they say about all young black boys that are murdered? This is the third case I have heard about in Chicago where a “good” kid was killed. Young black boys all at random places being killed by other young black boys. Boys getting killed coming out of church or going back and forth to school. Honor students are supposed to be the ones that stand above the fray. These are the students that want something more for themselves. They had plans and were working toward their goals. Now all their parent(s) have are dashed dreams.
What happens to a race when its brightest assets are murdered? What does it mean when our future lawyers, teachers, doctors, architects, engineers, scientists are murdered??? These murderers have decided that they are tired of killing rival gang members or people that they have a beef with. They have decided that everyone is now fair game. Either join them in the genocide or face a beat down or possibly worse. Between jail and getting killed in the streets it’s a wonder why Derrion wanted to study at all. The hopelessness of a race is being displayed on our streets everyday.
But who do we blame for this? It’s easy to throw blame on government as the usual suspect. But are they really to blame for the atrocities that are taking place in our cities?
Sure state and local governments could do a better job with providing employment, education, clean water, quality housing but then what? Providing resources won’t make someone work hard, take care of their property and be an overall better citizen. When the education system is discussed by my local city council they blame everyone but the parents. I guess they don’t want to upset possible voters. We have bad children in our schools because we have bad parents. People assume parenting is like riding a bike. A great deal of parental learning comes by trial and error. The rest naturally comes from the parents (grandparents by this stage). But when Grandma is single and 30 what can she really teach you?
It’s also sad that the only time you see black male honor students are when they’re getting a 2X4 upside their heads. It used to be that you couldn’t find news stories on our best and brightest. But if they are getting snuffed out, then why bother? When I was born, I never knew the males in my race were a dying breed.
I see my fellow black female bloggers’ complaining that black women don’t get a fair shake. That they are treated with disrespect and are devalued. No matter how Russell Simmons tries to spin it, black women are correct in their beliefs. Some black men have not done their jobs when it comes to protecting and providing for their women. Soon black women are going to start making black men their last option. They just don’t have time for black boys to stop killing one another.
I don’t want to make disparaging remarks about all black boys because that is not what this is about. Black boys go off to college every year and graduate becoming young men. They have moderate – highly successful lives without any dealings with prisons or gangs. Then you have the Derrion Alberts 0f our breed. Potential not fully realized because of horrible acts by people that look like their victims. Or maybe the perpetrators should be called animals? That might be disrespectful because farm animals have the common sense not to murder in cold blood. Possibly they could be wild animals? Raised in an animalistic environment that is full of hostility. You know the type I’m talking about. These days even black folks move to the other side of the street when they see young black boys coming. What does it mean when you are afraid of your own race?
This senseless violence has been going on for along time and we sighed – shed a tear and gone on with our business. We have set up memorials and made t-shirts with the faces of the deceased. And someone would always say “it’s just gangs, let them kill themselves.” Well the violence is now spilling over into a collateral damage stage. So the question becomes this – if we can’t save the bad ones and we can’t save the good ones, who can we save?

The Irrelevance of the NAACP brought to you by Purina Pet Food.
“We believe Michael Vick has served his time, paid his debt to society and deserves a second chance and the animal rights groups want to hold him hostage for the rest of his life. We think that’s patently unfair. It denies Michael Vick’s basic civil right, denies him his ability to make a living.”
~ J. Whyatt Mondesire
Denies him an ability to make a living???? What the whatsit? Mr. Mondesire must have bumped his head slipping on dog poop. Vick got out of jail and received a one year deal with the option for a second year. The first year will net Vick $1.6 million with the second year option giving him a possible $5.2 million. Vick also will receive an additional $3 million in incentives over the next 2 years of his current contract. So once again I ask? Denies him an ability to make a living??? People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals haven’t stopped Vick from making money. The most they can do is get skinny women to pose naked and make fun of heavy set women. They don’t have any real power. When was the last time they shut down a Rib Joint? Tell PETA to shut down JJ’s Rib Shack and then we’ll talk. I know there are many Vick fans out there. And I know there are many dog fighting fans out there (**shaking my head in shame**). This is not a diss post against Vick but I need black folks to understand something.
Black folks have squandered what little bit of Political/Financial Power we have obtained over the last few decades. We still don’t have an agenda that has any teeth to it. We have intellectual black folks, grass roots organizers and pseudo militants pretending to have the answers to black folks’ problems. And the one organization that should be leading the way is asleep at the wheel. The NAACP is intellectually bankrupt!!! The Chairman of the Organization was running behind the presidential candidate Hillary Clinton holding her jock strap. The organizations new leader is wet behind the ears. This guy is close to my age and they advertise him like he’s A. Philip Randolph. His civil right fighting record is shorting than Gary Coleman’s legs. And don’t get me started on the NAACP Board of Directors. Those guys are older than the Burning Bush in the bible.
In case someone hasn’t told the NAACP, we are in a bit of a healthcare crisis. While people are railroading the mere mention of Healthcare Reform, you have people using emergency rooms as primary care. About 30 percent of Hispanic and 20 percent of black Americans lack a usual source of health care compared with less than 16 percent of whites (info taken from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services). If you aren’t supporting social issues than what are you really doing? The Color of Change was started in 2005 and they have done more for black folks than the NAACP in the last 2 years.
When the NAACP sends literature to my house I just throw it away. If I wasn’t allergic to dogs, I would buy one and use their brochures as doggy wipes. If they really wanted to help Vick out, they would get season tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles games. Instead, they are marching outside like morons trying to support a rich guy that just got out the clink. Meanwhile across town some dude just got out of jail and can’t get a job because of his criminal record. If he could run fast and throw a football 60 yards, he might have a shot trying out for the NY/NJ Jets. But he probably can’t so he will go back to jail for going back into the game. NAACP, learn to pick your battles wisely. You’ve got one foot in the grave and the more you keep trying to crawl out, you keep falling back in.

Black Politician Watch: Former Detroit City Council Member Monica Conyers

Mrs. Conyers, wife of Rep. John Conyers 14th District of Michigan, had been under investigation for allegedly accepting bribes in connection with a City Council vote to approve a $1.2 billion sludge hauling contract. Recently Mrs. Conyers has acknowledged taking money regarding the sludge hauling contract. Mrs. Conyers former aide also said that jewelry, cash and meals were part of the deal as well. This could possibly end the political career of the 44-year-old mother of two sons. 44 years old???? But her husband is 80 years old!!! That means she is 4 decades younger than Rep. Conyers? I’ve heard of younger women liking older men but that is ridiculous. If Usher has a mother complex then she must have daddy issues. Let’s look at the numbers for a minute. They were both married in 1990 at age 61 and 25 respectively. She gave birth to their first son a month before their wedding. Ask yourself, what a 25 year old woman would want with a 61 year old man. Don’t be shy, you know the answer. Of course at age 61 he thought he was doing big things with a 25 year old on his arm. So I guess the marriage worked out for everybody. Too bad the investigation didn’t. Monica Conyers is possibly looking at 5 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

On the Largest stage in America, Black Folks still look so small
I knew BET was going to screw the pooch! They can’t help themselves. Just like the Democrats that are prone to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. BET couldn’t help themselves and had to put on a production that was worthy of ridicule and shame.
BET reminds me of a prostitute that is taken off the street in order to get their life back together. But eventually ends up going back on the stroll. Why? Because people revert back to what they know when they don’t know anything else. BET CEO Debra Lee has a law degree from Harvard University so she knows better. Why she continues her disdain for black folks by playing to the lowest common denominator is beyond me.
I didn’t watch the event but what was reported back to me was disheartening. I will talk on the following points and then get off my soapbox.
#1~Why was Jamie Foxx telling jokes about having unprotected sex? In 2005, blacks accounted for 49% of the new HIV/AIDS diagnoses in the United States. Of the 126,964 women living with HIV/AIDS 64% were black women (64% people!!!!). HIV/AIDS was the leading cause of death for black women between the ages of 25 – 34. And HETEROSEXUAL contact provided 80% of the newly diagnosed infections (and this was in 2005 people!!!). All figures and facts are listed on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website. This is no laughing matter. Black folks, we are at a critical point in our existence. Young black men are dying early due to violence, such as my frat brother in Texas (Please Read Memorial for Michael Motte). And our young women are dying because men are transmitting a deadly disease to them. Jamie Foxx wants to be a Hollywood Star and Hood Famous at the same time. He must not be following the careers of Denzel Washington and Will Smith. Mr. Foxx you can’t do both!! Please decide which one you want to do and then get back with us.
#2~A Tribute to the movie Baby Boy, was this movie a classic or something? Outside of Higher Learning and Four Brothers, John Singleton hasn’t had anything worth looking at since Boyz N the Hood. I know you will argue me down about Poetic Justice but did you watch it for Janet Jackson or Tupac or the actual plot? Taraji P. Henson is an Oscar Nominee now. She can’t slip backwards into the abyss of coonery. And the Ving Rhames guns and butter skit??? Comparing Michael Jackson to a macroeconomics model involving the relationship between a nation’s investment in defense and civilian goods is downright foolish. Is this what we as black folks call a classic movie? I guess next year you will see the cast of “Who’s Your Caddy?”
#3~Eddie Levert I heard you cursed…Please smoke your dope after the show and not before. You are an old school performer you know how it goes.
#4~Drake, Lil Wayne, the Young Money crew performing “******* Every Girl In The World” with middle school girls dancing gleefully to the beat. Well it’s just par for the course I guess. Our Children (yes us black folks!!) can learn the latest songs and dances but we complain the loudest saying they can’t learn in a “white mans” school. You were probably asking where were the parents? If they had any, they were bought and paid for. They were probably sitting in the audience counting money while their children danced on stage. After all these years we (yes us black folks!!!) are still dancing a jig when Nubia is on Fire all around us.
So I ask you was this a true tribute to Michael Jackson or window dressing? One of the greatest (possibly the greatest) entertainer of our generation and this is what we give him? What really bothers me is the lack of class and dignity that we (yes us black folks!!) seem to display. Why do we have to make things “hip and urban” in order for it to be deemed a “real black affair”. Being black should not be confused with what was on display last Sunday. Being black is about honor and dignity. It is about knowing our history and living in a way that our ancestors would be proud of. As long as we have lived in this country we are still the least respected last place race. Other races and nationalities have come to this country and flourished (i.e. People from Africa, People from the Middle East). And we are still spinning our wheels.
I talked to one of my friends (a black male) about the awards show. He said that if he was in mixed company (i.e. white folks) he would have walked out of the room. The images that we give the world are powerful. People all over the world make judgments about black Americans from what they see on TV. (whether right or wrong). So it’s important that we show the world our greatness. But as it is right now, I wonder if we even know what “our” greatness looks like.

People just don't care anymore

To make matters worse, there are other issues involved that are equally disturbing.
1) A 14-year-old mother with a six month old child
2) A 14-year-old girl that had sex with a man in his late 20s
3) A 14-year-old girl that was shuttled from foster families and group homes
This is the part where we all ask ."Where are the parents?" It's apparent that many children are raising themselves these days. When anyone talks about parents being accountable they end up being booed and hissed. The inner city streets this summer have run red with young blood. Countless numbers of black boys and girls have died over nonsense. What do you do when the future is dying before your eyes? Sometimes it seems like we are living in the worst of times.......
