Introducing Clinton Portis - Sexual Harassment Counselor

"You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's going to want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's (bodies), I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm going to cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing."

~ Redskins Running Back Clinton Portis talking on the 106.7 The Fan Radio Show.

Ines Sainz, a reporter for Azteca TV, claimed that she was harassed by the New York Jets during one of their practices. Apparently the NFL is tripping all over themselves trying to clean this one up. But I’m actually not surprised that the NY Jets might have been trying to score with Sainz. They can’t get any points on the field so they had to try somewhere. On the flip side, there is a debate going on about Sainz’s dress and appearance when she is interviewing Football Players. It seems like every other picture in Google Images looks like she dances at bars on the weekend. Painted on jeans and tight fitted shirts seem to be a part of her wardrobe. I don’t know if anyone has ever told Sainz but I don’t think people respect her journalism skills. Google Katie Couric and see what happens. Meanwhile Couric’s network, CBS, has a video slide of Sainz in bathing suits. I think both sides have a lot of explaining to do but Portis’s comments are really bothering me. I just wish that he would stop saying ignorant things. Anytime he gives his opinion about something it ends up being the dumbest thing you have ever heard (example here). Can someone shut him up???

That reporter dresses like all of the other women on Spanish language TV. So she may be out of place amongst American women journalists but she fits right in with Spanish language TV journalists.

I think the NFL is full of it. If they really cared about this sort of thing then Ben Roethlisberger would be banned from the league for life or at least suspended for a couple of years.

I think the reporter is making a huge deal out of nothing. It's not like she's never heard catcalls and dirty language directed at her. It might not be appropriate or right, in fact it isn't, but it can't be the first time it's happened to her.

If you know you're going into a locker room full of male egos and possible erection, please use your common sense.

I'm originally from the Caribbean, so I know what Val means by she dresses like other women on Spanish language television. Other countries are more open to sexuality and provocativeness. We aren't strangers to catcalls.

Nik - So harassment is open in South America and Island Countries?? That speaks to a bigger problem. Well she was in NY city and they play by different rules.

She just wants publicity. It appears that anything someone does that is negative behavior, they are on the news. More people, stupid, or playing that game - do something negative or make negative comments and someone will listen.
