Cool@CO. You're lucky, I could use a nice relaxed train trip! The last one I took was all the way cross country and it was great!

Anyway, enjoy BWB and I can't wait for you to blog about it.

I wish I'd made it :(

Hopefully next time around.

I haven't spent time in DC in a while, enjoy your trip.

There's much to do there, much to see there.

Brother Ojo:

How are you my Tar Heel state friend?

Could you detail for me the top 5 issues in the minds of the "Blogging While Black" syndicate?

Val, Nik, Reggie - It was excellent. If you guys ever get the opportunity to make it you should go.

Constructive Feedback - Have you ever been to NC? You should come up sometime for a vacation. I'll put the word out so no one will mess with you. If you mean Syndicate as in a "crime cartel" I can't answer your question. I went to a convention that was sponsored by reputable companies. I did not see or witness anyone participating in any form of organized crime. It was held at a convention center as well. I don't know that much about criminals but from what I do know they don't hold functions at convention centers. So in the end it will be hard for me to answer your question. If you are looking for a blog that promotes criminal activity. You have come to the wrong place. Have a nice day.

Brother Ojo:

You are far too suspicious of me. (I thought that we agreed to take each other at face value? Thus I have stopped claiming that you are purely motivated in protecting the interests of the Democratic Party).

The use of the word "syndicate" was not done to paint the picture of an organized crime entity. I can attest that I know of no AfroSpear operative that has committed a crime. (Note: I did not say "operative" as in "CIA operative".)

They are just individuals with a world view regarding the challenges of Black America and how to fix them that differs from mine.

I asked you the question because I was interested in you affirming that the group of bloggers that gathered together had recommitted to focusing upon the KEY ISSUES WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY and not function as an adjunct of:

* The Democratic Party
* The Obama Administration
* "HuffoPo In Black Face"

I hope that you do agree

Constructive Feedback - Now isn't that nice. I guess you are finally learning that being nice pays off. You have spent so much time fighting folks everybody thinks you are trying to take a swing on them. Now doesn't it feel better to be a friendly gentle person. You keep this up and you might make some new friends..

CF,

I think that you might be confused about the purpose of BWB. Although this is heavly attended by African Americans, Blacks, or whatever else we are being called this week. The conference had other ethnic groups there as well. This is not a political group that is part of any political machine. As I have told you before I'm an Ind. I'm not in lock step with the Democrats. Some of the sessions were about:

Federal Trade Commission Blog Advertising Guidelines (with a presentation from a representative from the FTC)

Ways to make your Blog Suck Less
You can check the presenter out at www.hanselman.com

Break Through Bloggers - My peers discussing how they got into the game and how it has led to other opportunities.

Bloggers as Change Agents and Educators - That was about showing people how to use your blog for change and educational purposes. That involved discussions on HIV, STEM, and Racism in the media.

Now I would be lying if I told you politics didn't come up. But it wasn't enough to make the event into a political rally. This event had participants that blog on different subjects. Technology, Personal Life, Natural Hair Care, Politics etc. Every black person that blogs doesn't blog with a left leaning slant. Some people just want to talk about STEM -science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. But if you are a political blogger (which I most certainly am not) or a blogger that wants to use their blog to change the black community (which might be what you are in a weird round about way??) there was something for you there as well. You should attend one year and see for yourself. Tell your wife that you are taking a personal vacation. And if she doesn't throw you out the house, it's all good...
