Now Michael Steele wants to talk about race? It’s not the “Race Card” it’s the “Late Card.”

Let’s get something straight. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele might sound like a crazy person on most days but on April 5th he finally was talking straight. On Good Morning America, Steele was asked if because he is an African American, he feels he has a slimmer margin for error than another Chairman would.


Steele’s answer was the following:

“It just is. Barack Obama has a slimmer margin. A lot of folks do. It means a different role for me to play and others to play and that’s just the reality of it. But you take that as a part of the nature of it. It’s more because you’re not someone they know. I’m not a Washington insider even though I grew up near D.C. My view on politics is much more grassroots-oriented, it’s not old boy network-oriented. So I tend to, you know, come at it a little bit stronger, a little bit more streetwise, if you will. That’s rubbed some feathers the wrong way.”


I don’t have a problem with what Steele said. I just think that he is a year late in saying it. The First Black (fill in the blank with any job position) is working with the slimmest of Margins. Do you think that any group/organization heavily made up with white folks welcomed the first black person with open arms? Black folks had to fight to sit in the front of the bus so why would it be any different to be the first head of an organization?


I guess what is shocking people is the fact that a Black Republican had the balls to speak out against the groupthink. But like most slaves when they speak out of turn, Steele is about to take a whipping. BUT!!! Don’t think that the next sentences will be my defense of Steele! I could care less about what happens to him. Although it is true that his skin color leaves little room for error, he still needed to bring his “A” game. As RNC Chairman, Steele has looked inept at every single turn. Every time he opens his mouth you don’t know what might come out. His lack of tact is stunning for a politician of his experience. I thought he was going to be a breath of fresh air for a stale organization. I thought he would steer the party in a different direction. Boy was I wrong!! Steele’s Chairmanship has been a case of the cart leading the horse. I wish I could say he was going to complete a full term but I can’t. The Republicans will eventually get tired of him and will cut their losses. I will respectfully have to disagree with Mr. Scarborough. His blackness is not going to keep him from joining the ranks of the unemployed.

I’m so sick of hearing about John Mayer!! I wasn’t going to blog about it but its Saturday and people are still talking about it. I heard one woman ask on a radio show “how did John Mayer get so popular?” Lady, where have you been? Now Holly Robinson Peete has made a comment about it… Black Women, I beg you!! Leave This Alone!! So what does this really mean? The man said he likes everybody but he only sleeps with white women. Okay? He is a white man! Are black women really upset because a white man only dates white women? Now I understand being upset over his use of the “N” word. But we shouldn’t be surprised. Barack Obama’s presidency has brought out peoples true feelings. Add to the fact that his black friends probably let him use the word. Yep! There are black folks letting white folks use the “N” word. It seems that our pride and respect crawled into the casket with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I understand about holding people accountable but we have bigger fish to fry at this point. Censure Mayer – Ask for a verbal or written apology – wait for him to come out of his concert and beat him with a cane.

We need to get back to this 15% - 17% Unemployment for Black Men. The 3rd wave of Subprime Loans that are about to hit. The Banks that refuse to give loans to small family businesses. The missing Green Jobs that were promised and could help residents in poor neighborhoods.

Let’s not waste anymore energy on an interview in a skin magazine. Focus People!!!

Bigger and Blacker in 2010

If we are in Post Racial America, why are books like “Barack Obama and the Jim Crow Media: The Return of the Nigger Breakers” being written?


Last week TV and Radio Host Glenn Beck said the following in discussing the 2010 Census:

“African-American is a bogus, PC, made-up term. I mean, that's not a race. Your ancestry is from Africa and now you live in America. Ok, so you were brought over -- either your family was brought over through the slave trade or you were born here and your family emigrated here or whatever but that is not a race.”


Last weekend Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid apologized for remarks he made in 2008.

Reid said the following -

“He believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama -- a 'light-skinned' African American 'with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.


Let’s face it folks –


What most White folks know about Black folks could be placed in a thimble. White men in the media want to comment on Blacks but don’t know the first thing about us. What in the HELL does Reid know about “Negro Dialect?” That dweeb represents the state of Nevada. After Las Vegas, where are the rest of them “Negroes?” Reid called Obama to apologize and of course he accepted. Sometimes I wish Obama was more “Paul Mooney” and less “Steven Q. Urkel.” But the latter is what appeals to some Whites. They like the appeal of the “Non-Threatening Black Man” or the “Magic Negro” character in Hollywood movies. A “Safe” Black man is more neutered and is less prone to go all “Farrakhan” on them. Anytime a Black person stands up for themselves (i.e. being assertive) they are accused of being uppity. Anytime a Black person does well in their career they are lucky. Anytime a Black athlete does well it’s always because of their skill and not their IQ. I guess if Black folks just keep quiet and don’t ask for much, they will live happy lives. God Forbid if they want to be anything more than a Field Hand. Some White folks have been duped into believing the world was going to end with the election of a Black president. They were expecting Obama to have a fish fry on the White House lawn. And that the Rev. Al Sharpton would be his Secretary of State. America has produced some of the most intelligent Blacks that the world has ever seen. But some Whites don’t think we could run a convenience store correctly.


Glenn Beck reportedly has few Black friends because he is afraid he will say something stupid and offend them. Ha! This terd is apparently confused. He has been saying stupid things since he’s been on television. His employer Fox News is the biggest offender of African Americans/Blacks/Niggers/Coons or whatever else they call us. They masquerade as a legitimate news company while hurling insults at Black folks (i.e. Pissing on me and then telling me…oh no! That’s just yellow rain coming in from Canada). And when they have Black commentators on, they throw cover to blatant Fox News’ racism. On more than one occasion, Fox News Analyst Juan Williams has been referred to as a “House Negro” by other Blacks in the media. The 2010 reality is that Blacks are not a monolithic race but damn…..can we at least call racism when we see it? Black Republican Ron Christie could have a noose around his neck and he would probably say “excuse me, could you loosen this up a bit.” Beck makes money from misinforming White folks by throwing out generalizations and stereotypes. All while under the guise of being an “American Patriot.” If Beck is afraid of Black folks, then imagine how his followers must feel? This speaks volumes for the future of Race Relations in America. Also the popularity of Fox News shows that there is an even further disconnect between the races.


The reason I don’t have any close White friends is not because I’m worried about saying something stupid. It’s because I don’t know if I’ll be able to be myself around them. I don’t want to be the “Safe Negro” around my White friends. I want to be able to be myself. I shouldn’t have to play down my views based on my race because I need to make my White friends comfortable. Most Black folks have to go to their jobs everyday and attempt to fit in. On the other hand, White folks just show up being themselves. Some Whites are so afraid of minorities that the year 2050 has been advertised as the end of the world. If Reid and Beck would take the initiative to learn about Black culture, maybe they wouldn’t make crazy statements. The passing down of ignorance from generation to generation is an epidemic. Black folks have been in America since the 1600’s and all some White folks only know about Lebron James and Will Smith. The key to eradicating ignorance is education - dummies!!! Stop judging Blacks from the criminals on the 6pm Nightly News. Those individuals are not a true representation of the race as a whole. Think about this: Most of us still speak to White folks even after listening to Rush Limbaugh.


The Bottom Line: It’s 2010 and I don’t plan on getting less black so something’s got to give. Either we learn to accept each other or we fail as a nation. Really….it’s just that simple.

Trying to put the Latino Genie back in the hotel shampoo bottle.

A white hotel owner in New Mexico wants his Latino workers to use “Anglicized” names on the job. Larry Whitten, the hotel owner, has been in the hotel business for a minute so maybe he knows what he is doing. Or does he? Whitten was concerned that his employees might start speaking Spanish so he told them to only speak English in his presence. Whitten had said that “people calling from all over America don’t know the Spanish Accents or the Spanish culture or Spanish anything.” He also said that his employees were hostile and some called him “the white (N) word.”


SIDE NOTE - If someone knows Mr. Whitten, can they ask him what exactly is a “white N word?”


The hotel (which is probably in actuality a motel – ha ha, just jokes…) is located in Taos, New Mexico. Just like everyone else outside of New Mexico I’ve never heard of the place. Actress Julia Roberts has a ranch there (if anyone was interested). If you look at any pictures of the city on line, it looks like the set of a western movie. I was actually waiting to see a stage coach in front of city hall. Apparently it is a hip vacation spot for skiers and people that enjoy wine. Who Knew????


I wonder what would have happened if Whitten took over a hotel in downtown Detroit. Would he tell Keisha to change her name to Karen? Would he tell his black employees to stop speaking in Ebonics? People don’t speak English in America anymore!!! Look at all the ads geared toward Latinos. Look at all the businesses that cater to Latinos. America has been playing a dirty game. They have turned a blind eye to our southern borders to let in cheap labor. They realized that illegal aliens were walking around with wads of cash so the banks started drawing them in. They realized that they could pay them less or even off the books. So now a hotel owner in the sticks wants English only as his businesses official language. Right…….


I’m going to keep saying this:


In case anyone hasn’t notice, Latino’s have joined the ranks of America’s favorite whipping boy. There is an anti-Latino backlash because basically there are too many of them (don’t believe me…ask Lou Dobbs). It was alright when they were picking up trash and cutting grass. Now they want the false “America Dream” and that’s when the problems begin. Does Whitten have the right to make an English only rule? Yes he does. His problem was that he didn’t survey his present situation. He didn’t look at what he was working with before he opened his mouth. Who do you think is the most likely candidate for hotel work in Taos, New Mexico? It’s not black folks with a less than 1 percent population. And it sure as hell ain’t white folks (not in mass) washing sheets and making up beds. Whitten better learn the motto “work with watcha got”. Everywhere I go know I see Latino’s speaking in Spanish. It’s too late to stop them from speaking Spanish. Might I suggest Rossetta Stone?

Obama obtained 53% of the total electorial vote last November. The break down below:

A. With 43% of white folks (total number of white people) voting for him.
B. With 54% of white voters being between the age of 18 to 29.





Where are the White People that voted for Obama? Have the ‘white’ independents and the ‘white’ base been duped by the lies? Sure Obama did himself a disservice by not handling this Health Care situation better. Maybe you might not be pleased with his handling of our troops overseas. You’re possibly upset over the bailouts. It’s only been 8 months since Obama has been in office. So where did all this hate come from?

Does Clarence Thomas know how to coach basketball? I think this job might be a good fit for him.

A basketball team with too many black players? No not the Boston Celtics…I’m talking about a high school team. These days (although stereotypical) most coaches would want black players. Former basketball coach Anthony Cheatham thinks his former employer is trying to white-out B-Ball. He has a lawsuit against one of the nation’s oldest all-dudes prep schools to prove as much. An All-Dudes (as in all boys) high school keeping out black basketball players? The NBA finals must not broadcast in Saltsburg, PA. Who is going to turn down the next MJ, or that dude that I don’t like that plays for the Lakers? Don’t get me wrong!! I’m not saying that white guys can’t play ball. It just doesn’t make sense not to recruit blacks due to the fact they are near basketball playing urban areas (i.e. Philly, NY). Some of the public schools in our urban areas are not that good. If a kid has a chance to use his jump shot to get an education, I support him 100%. That’s how you game the system (oops..let me keep that to myself). It’s going to be interesting to see where this lawsuit goes. I do wonder what Anthony Cheatham is doing in the meantime? If he is looking for a job, tell him that The University of Southern California needs a basketball coach. And trust me; they won’t have a problem with you recruiting black folks…not at all!!!!
