Michael Steele, do you cosign on Joe Wilson's outburst?

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

~ Rep Joe Wilson (Republican Congressman from South Carolina)

I know you apologized for your outburst Rep. Wilson but I’m not buying it. This is a case of too little too late. This is the part where I usually say Screw You and everyone that voted for you. But I won’t say it tonight, because I’ve been down this road before.

If you’ve read my previous posts: Momma, you are going to have to pray a lot harder, Even Hitler would be offended, We went from being the “N” Word to being Nazis, and How an Illegal Alien and an Uppity Negro told me to circle my wagons. I’ve said that there is a war going on against Black Folks! I didn’t say this to start a race war or to become a “Black Glenn Beck.” There are some white folks that have animosity towards black folks. They hate that we have the same opportunities they do. They hate that we can live next door to them. They hate that we can be promoted to leadership positions on our jobs. They hate that we can vote and hold political positions. They even hate that black men can date their women now.

You know, when I was a little boy there was an old Negro farmer lived
down the road from us, name of Monroe. And he was... Well, I guess he was just a little luckier than my daddy was. He bought himself a mule. That was a big deal around that town. My daddy hated that mule. His friends kidded him that they saw Monroe plough in' with his new mule and Monroe was gonna rent another field now that he had a mule. One morning that mule just showed up dead. They poisoned the water. After that there was never any mention about that mule around my daddy. One time we were drivin' past Monroe's place and we saw it was empty. He'd just packed up and left, I guess. Gone up North or somethin'. I looked over at my daddy's face and I knew he'd done it. And he saw that I knew. He was ashamed. I guess he was ashamed. He looked at me and he said "If you ain't better than a nigger, son, who are you better than?

~ Gene Hackman’s Character Agent Rupert Anderson, in the movie “Mississippi Burning”

This disdain for black folks isn’t new. No matter how hard we try to move past this we just can’t. The Racism is so bad that people can’t contain it anymore. No matter how you feel about President Obama, he is still the President of THE United States. You don’t have to respect the man but you do respect his position. To call the man a liar in a joint session of Congress shows an enormous amount of disrespect.

The people holding up signs with him looking like a monkey or eating watermelon….Disrespect.

The people that say nasty things about his children's hair and appearance…..Disrespect.

The people that talk about his wife's physical attributes as unattractive…..Disrespect.

The people that keep referring to him as an illegal alien……Disrespect.

These are all fronts for something more sinister. No one ever called Laura Bush unattractive or talked about how nappy her children's hair was. Making someone that looks different into a monster is what racists do best. It makes them feel more superior. These individuals dislike black people but are afraid to show their true colors. So they make up all these other side issues to complain about. My Great Granddaddy knew racism, my Granddaddy knew racism, my Daddy knew racism and I know racism. When you have a legitimate beef with someone you can back it up with facts and logic. Not a lot of hocus pocus (i.e. fake birth certificates and death panels.) It is painfully obvious that you can’t negotiate with the Devil. So I’m going to address this post to Republican National Chairman Michael Steele.

I’m addressing this to you because you are the leader of this organization. The people under you should be following your lead. Instead it looks like you are the one being led around like an old donkey. You are the head of a tired party that still specializes in race-baiting. You have lost most of your clout in the Northeast and are pigeonholed in the South and Midwest. You’re National Conventions looks like the auditions for the 1940 Harvard University Glee Club. Your party has used religion to fight progressive Ideas and to divide America. To make matters worse, your party has alienated people from the same race (i.e. Black Folk) that you belong to. So I’m addressing this post to you Chairman Steele. Do you support Rep. Wilson’s disrespect of our President? Do you believe that the President was born in a hut in Africa somewhere? Do you believe that the President wants to turn American into “The New Russia”? Do you believe that the President is trying to give black people reparations through the passing of a health care bill? Chairman Steele, do you believe that the man elected by a landslide actually wants America to fail? If you do, then you are no better than Rep. Wilson and those like him. We can disagree respectfully and work towards solutions that will help us all. Or we can do what we have been doing. So I ask you Chairman Steele, do you cosign on all of this?

We must fight until Hell freezes over and then fight on the Ice.

I thought he was going to pick Judge Marilyn Milian(The Peoples Court) but I guess he should have picked Judge Mathis (Judge Mathis Show) instead.

President Barack Obama announced Federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor as his Supreme Court Nominee. Just like Jennifer Lopez, Judge Sotomayor is Puerto Rican and from the Boogie Down Bronx. She is not a Butter Pecan Rican like J Lo but I’m giving Puerto Ricans from the Bronx shout outs today. The Devil, the dummy, the bigot and the adulterer have already started attacking her. Oh my bad……you know them as Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove, Pat Buchanan, and Newt Gingrich. They hit her with the usual assaults i.e. un-intelligent, reverse-racist. Anytime a racist white person wants to discredit a minority they yell reverse racism. Anytime a prejudice white person wants to discredit a minority they call them unintelligent. This ignorant thinking makes them feel better about themselves. The Republicans are reminding minorities, that in America no matter how much education or prestige you have, we are still like dirt to them. So I knew there would be some negativity surrounding this pick but I didn’t expect it from black folks.

I spent yesterday listening to “black” talk radio and I was blown away. I knew that some races have difficulties living together but I didn’t know it was this bad. I heard black folks refer to Latinos as illegal aliens, criminals, baby makers, and job-stealers.

Side Bar: My girl Nic Nic sent me this info: Los Angeles Gang Targets African Americans

I always thought that Selma Hayek was HOT and that George Lopez was funny. I never had a hard time getting along with other people. Citizen Momma taught me to treat other people the way I wanted to be treated. This is from a woman who had her high school burned down by racist white folks. Disgruntled black folks are mad because President Obama did not select a black person. They feel that because 90% of ”US” voted for him he needs to pick black candidates. Not just for the Supreme Court but for everything!!! Cabinet Position……get a black!!! Secretary Position…..get a black, Supreme Court Position…..get a black, Ambassador to Planet Vulcan…..get a black!!!. If they had their way, the Obama Administration would look like the roster of the Washington-Homestead Grays. Only a few black folks called in to defend Obama and the Latinos. Are minorities going to spend their time on earth fighting over scraps? I once heard that the Devil likes dissention. He must be extremely happy right now…….oh and Rush Limbaugh too.

I don’t think that some black folks were really ready for a “Black President”. I think they had this warped idea that a black president would come riding a white horse (notice the horse is still white….ha ha just joking) and save the day. The black president was going to clean up the streets and give “us” power. After we received our 40 Acres and a Mule X 100, we were going to live happily ever after. Black America, as your minster says on Sunday……The Devil Is a Lie. It’s time for us to get real. I understand that some black folks are going to say “Well every other minority group has the president’s ear.” And you are correct!!! Jews, Latinos, Older Americas even Gun Lovers all have groups that lobby for their interests. The Key Word is “Groups” that lobby. The “others” have groups that specialize in dealing with politicians and law makers. And no I’m not talking about Tavis Smiley and Cornel West. I like Cornel and Tavis is okay but they play the role of outside agitator. They are still mad because Obama didn’t acknowledge Dr. Martin Luther King in a speech. Damn….that was last year people!!!! A group that can lobby for blacks has to be part of the establishment not outside of it.

Obama never told “us” that he was an anti establishment person. Actually he is quite the opposite. Obama has made it this far because he knows how to work the establishment. All of his moves are calculated with a hint of pragmatism. Obama doesn’t walk into a room that he can’t walk out of. He is not going to exact revenge for past social ills. He will make political moves that help move his agenda. You can believe that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is a calculated pick that already is paying dividends for Mr. Obama. In this pick, you get a WOMAN and a LATINO AMERICAN. And if the Republicans give her a hard time, they will alienate Latinos (unlike certain minorities they vote in large numbers……a possible good look for the Dems).

Sure I would love to see a black woman on the Supreme Court. But I remember when Clarence Thomas was going through his nomination process. “We” stood by him and watched the Republicans destroy Anita Hill’s character. And what did "we" get in return for “our” loyal support? Not a damn thing!!! So when we talk about getting black people in high positions, we need to be very careful. Some people are black in color only. I’m still disappointed in this brown on black or beige on black or butter pecan on chocolate hate. We do have or differences but we have similarities as well. Those similarities should be used to help us find common ground. The same threats that are against black folks are against Latinos too. There are many debates that are worth having and I believe this is one of them. Do you?

My Post Election Commentary

The results of this past Tuesdays election has me contemplating. I am still in a state of disbelief. I have to admit that I am cynical when it comes to race relations in this country. I wasn’t always like this. I grew up in predominantly white environments and had a mix of black and white friends. But after being out here in the working world, I have become more cynical as the days go on. I see the disparity between whites and blacks every day. I’ve watched less qualified whites get hired, while qualified blacks had to work at minimum wage jobs. I’ve watched blacks get marginalized as stereotypes on television and print. I’ve heard whites say some of the most despicable things on radio.

So to see a black man become the President Elect of the United States of America, it still leaves me in awe. I still don’t know what this means yet. I don’t think we are moving to a post racial America, but it does change how I look at this country. The white folks that voted for Obama bought into the concept of judging a man by his character vs. his color. The vote did not validate America’s tolerance, but showed how this country is supposed to work. Tuesday wasn’t just a win for diversity, but for the people that died, all genders and races, in order for this to happen.

When I woke up the day after the election, I had to renew my driver’s license. I can’t believe the DMV doesn’t take debit cards……….I digress though. The day looked like any other day, but there was something in the air. It was something that I have never felt before after a general election. This feeling was a sense of newness in America. I was looking at the world through a different set of eyes. What I saw wasn’t limitations but great possibilities. They say life is a beautiful struggle – well the struggle continues but the world just become a little prettier.

Slow News Is No News

You mean that African American Newspapers were late in getting out the news on Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes? I’m shocked!!! Sike! Really I’m not surprised at all. TV One’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention is titled “The After Party”. Black News has gone by the way of the Do Do Bird. If it was not for African American web sites (i.e. AOL Black Voices), and Black bloggers we wouldn’t have any news regarding black folks. Some of these “Old Guard” African American newspapers are behind the times. How does a news organization not have people working on the weekend? That is the equivalent of CNN working a four day week. Some African American newspapers did not have anything about their deaths in print. African American newspapers can’t just use a rewrite of an Associated Press story and call it reporting. They have to be proactive instead of reactive if they want to stay relevant. The African American news organizations in question were in the hometowns of Hayes and Mac. It is sad that they could not receive better treatment from their own folks. When Bud Billiken (a mythical character) gets more coverage than a comedic icon you know it’s truly a sad day.

How a Disgruntled man made me Disgruntled

This proves my point about the intelligence of the average voter today. Jim D. Adkisson shot those people in church on Sunday July 27th. His reason "frustration that the liberal movement was getting more jobs and he felt like he was being kept out of the loop because of his age." This guy has to be some kind of stupid!!!!

1. America's so called "conservative party" has been in charge of the White House the last 7 years.

2. During the last 7 years many corporations have recorded all time highs when it comes to profits.

3. In many areas in the United States unemployment is high, and layoffs are common place now.

And this dummy thinks that liberals have something to do with his inability to get a job? People with Masters Degree's are now flipping burgers to make ends meet. I know a "white" guy that just graduated from college, and can't get a job. This is not a problem that is color, age, or religion specific. If he is looking for someone to blame, he needs to look no further than The Bush Administration, which has fallen asleep at the financial wheel. If this administration isn’t wasting money, it is letting corporations practice financial malfeasance. Meanwhile people from other countries are buying up American Icons, and The People's Republic of China (A communist ran country) keeps letting us borrow money. Then you have Americans arguing about how un-patriotic Barack Obama is. These are the same dummies that will go vote this November, and base their decision on what person they imagine themselves drinking a beer with. This murderer that walked into a place of worship and opened fire on innocent people deserves the fastest ticket to hell.

Why does triumph look like tragedy?

Damsel of Distress
This article was written by The Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan

This is an amazing story. The Democratic Party has a winner. It has a nominee. You know this because he has the most votes and the most elected delegates, and there's no way, mathematically, his opponent can get past him. Even after the worst two weeks of his campaign, he blew past her by 14 in North Carolina and came within two in Indiana.

He's got this thing. And the Democratic Party, after this long and brutal slog, should be dancing in the streets. Party elders should be coming out on the balcony in full array, in full regalia, and telling the crowd, "Habemus nominatum": "We have a nominee." And the crowd below should be cheering, "Viva Obamus! Viva nominatum!"

Instead, you know where they are, the party elders. They are in a Democratic club on Capitol Hill, slump-shouldered at the bar, having a drink and then two, in a state of what might be called depressed horror. "What are they doing to the party?" they wail. "Why are they doing this?"
You know who they are talking about.

The Democratic Party can't celebrate the triumph of Barack Obama because the Democratic Party is busy having a breakdown. You could call it a breakdown over the issues of race and gender, but its real source is simply Hillary Clinton. Whose entire campaign at this point is about exploiting race and gender.

Here's the first place an outsider could see the tensions that have taken hold: on CNN Tuesday night, in the famous Brazile-Begala smackdown. Paul Begala wore the smile of the 1990s, the one in which there is no connection between the shape of the mouth and what the mouth says. All is mask. Donna Brazile was having none of it.

Mr. Begala more or less accused the Obama people of not caring about white voters: "[If] there's a new Democratic Party that somehow doesn't need or want white working-class people and Latinos, well, count me out." And: "We cannot win with eggheads and African Americans." That, he said, was the old, losing, Dukakis coalition.

"Paul, baby," Ms. Brazile, who is undeclared, began her response, "we need to not divide and polarize the Democratic Party. . . . So stop the divisions. Stop trying to split us into these groups, Paul, because you and I know . . . how Democrats win, and to simply suggest that Hillary's coalition is better than Obama's, Obama's is better than Hillary's -- no. We have a big party, Paul." And: "Just don't divide me and tell me I cannot stand in Hillary's camp because I'm black, and I can't stand in Obama's camp because I'm female. Because I'm both. . . . Don't start with me, baby." Finally: "It's our party, Paul. Don't say my party. It's our party. Because it's time that we bring the party back together, Paul."

In case you didn't get what was behind that exchange, Mrs. Clinton spent this week making it clear. In a jaw-dropping interview in USA Today on Thursday, she said, "I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on." As evidence she cited an Associated Press report that, she said, "found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

White Americans? Hard-working white Americans? "Even Richard Nixon didn't say white," an Obama supporter said, "even with the Southern strategy." If John McCain said, "I got the white vote, baby!" his candidacy would be over. And rising in highest indignation against him would be the old Democratic Party. To play the race card as Mrs. Clinton has, to highlight and encourage a sense that we are crudely divided as a nation, to make your argument a brute and cynical "the black guy can't win but the white girl can" is -- well, so vulgar, so cynical, so cold, that once again a Clinton is making us turn off the television in case the children walk by.

"She has unleashed the gates of hell," a longtime party leader told me. "She's saying, 'He's not one of us." She is trying to take Obama down in a new way, but also within a new context. In the past he was just the competitor. She could say, "All's fair." But now he's the competitor who is going to be the nominee of his party. And she is still trying to do him in. And the party is watching.

Again: amazing.

Who can save the situation? The superdelegates.

You know them. They're the ones hiding under the rock, behind the boulder, and at the bar.
They are terrified, most of them. They want the problem to go away. They want it handled, but they don't want to do it. They don't want to tell Hillary to stop, because they would likely pay a price for it, and not just with her. They are afraid of looking as if they're jumping on a train that's speeding down the tracks and is about to roll over the damsel in distress.
Which is how Hillary -- and her supporters -- will paint it. Even though she's no damsel, and she causes distress. Some insight from a superdelegate I spoke to Thursday:
It's not math anymore, it's psychodrama. If she can't have it, no one can have it. If she has to tear the party apart, she will.

Nancy Pelosi can't make her drop out. The Clintons think the speaker is for Obama anyway, her San Francisco district went for him 70% to 30%; they'll dismiss her. Chuck Schumer can't do it, he'd offend women in New York. Harry Reid can't do it, he'll offend women, period. If black political figures go to the Clintons and make a plea, they'll be dismissed as Obama partisans.

So who, I asked, can do it?

White women have been Mrs. Clinton's most reliable base of support and readiest crutch, the superdelegate said. And maybe they're the only ones who can break through, both to Mrs. Clinton and to the country, and tell her to stop. "If it's a man, she goes back to gender: Men are always picking on me, you just don't want women in power. If it's a black, it's You betrayed us, how can you call on me to get out after what I've done for you?"

Sen. Dianne Feinstein made a feint in the direction of stopping Hillary this week. Mrs. Clinton should offer a rationale for her continuing the campaign at this point, Ms. Feinstein said.
The superdelegate mentioned Maryland's Barbara Mikulski. "I can assure you that Sen. Mikulski is 100% behind Clinton," her office told me. The superdelegate mentioned Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Ellen Malcolm of Emily's List, the No. 1 political action committee in the country. "They can say, 'We've stood with you, you've got true grit, but now you have to go."

The question "Who will tell her, who can make her go?" is really the question "Who will save the Democratic Party in 2008?" It cannot be doubted at this point that real damage is being done to its standard-bearer and to all those who will be on the ticket with him.

Maybe the superdelegate is right, and maybe saving the party this year will be women's work. Maybe the Democratic Party establishment, such as it is, men and women, black and white and all other colors, will rise up together. Maybe that would be a perfect rebuke to race-baiting and gender-gaming.

It will be amazing if someone doesn't start up that train, someone doesn't get in the cab, someone doesn't shout, "All aboard!" But then it's been an amazing year.
