Post Racial Dreams turn to Obamacrat Nightmares.

"You can't vote against health care and call yourself a black man" ~ Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr

Congressman Artur Davis (aka Persona non grata in the “Yellowhammer State”) wasn’t paying attention when Jesse “The Patron Saint of Negro Folk” Jackson made the above statement to the Congressional Black Caucus. YES, Artur Davis, he was talking about you!!! And Jackson was saying it to your own organization!? Davis really wasn’t reading the tea leaves during his campaign for Governor of Alabama. Davis, a Harvard Law School classmate of President Barack Obama, was so inspired by Obama’s Presidential run that he wanted to emulate it (on a more local level of course). Obama’s victory had Davis thinking that it was his moment to do the impossible. He thought by appealing to white folks he could show that he was for all people. No matter how many times I read that last line it still doesn’t make sense. Davis was once touted as the - could be, might be, maybe, next Governor of Alabama. Davis, through poor decision making, decided to run a November campaign in the spring. His handlers forgot that he needed to get out of the Democratic Primary before he could run in the General Election. All his mistakes eventually came back to bite him in the end. These democrats don’t understand that it’s not about the party. The reason a lot of them are in office doesn’t have anything to do with their platforms. During the 2008 General Election, they rode Obama’s coattails into office (Yes I’m talking to you Governor Beverly Perdue!!!!). It’s like Sean Combs (or is it Diddy?) getting you into the VIP section at the club. Girls (or Guys) are only talking to you because you know Sean Combs/Puffy/Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Diddy. Any other night you would be outside behind the velvet rope.

When you are running to something, it also means you are running away from something. Davis ran away from the very people that put him into office. He chose “The Middle” over “Black Folks.” And that is his god given right to do so. Just because he is black doesn’t mean he has to appeal to black folks. The only time you see Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas near something black is when he’s wearing his robe to work. Davis could have used some of Obama’s 2008 “Black Magic” in this off year election. Black folks weren’t voting like they were back in 2008. If you think about it, white folks aren’t even voting at 2008 numbers. This was going to be an uphill battle from the start. What made it worse was his vote against the health care bill. That was his classmate’s first piece of major legislation and he voted against it. During that time, if you were black and didn’t support the healthcare bill you were crucified out in public. You could’ve had a legitimate reason to not support it but that didn’t matter. Many black folks weren’t hearing that. You were either for Obama or against him. Did I say “what made it worse” already? My bad, I forgot to mention that he didn’t kiss the ring of Alabama’s black establishment. Now we are officially at the Worst!! Everyone knows that you have to “shake hands and kiss babies” with your own folks!!! Davis should have known that he needed to go on black radio and eat chicken dinners and such!!!

Well the chicken dinners didn’t go uneaten. Ron Sparks, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, didn’t have a problem kicking it with black folks. And that’s why he will be Alabama’s democratic candidate for Governor. Instead, Davis made Alabama history by becoming the first black candidate in a statewide race to lose the black vote.

Side Note: The Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries??? Really Artur?? Really??

Davis said that he was done with running for office at his concession speech. No Duh!

You need to get out of politics when the following happens to you:

1. When you can’t get votes in your own Congressional District (Low).

2. When you can’t get votes in your own home county (Lower).

3. When you can’t get votes in your own voting precinct (Lowest).

All of this led up to Davis losing 61 of his state’s 67 counties. To say that this loss was stunning is an understatement. Excuse my Japanese but Davis got his ass kicked!!! He even got creamed in white majority counties!! And these were the same people he was trying to appeal to? If I was him, I would pack up a U-Haul and ride out on Interstate 20. The state of Alabama gave Congressman Artur Davis a vote of no confidence. I hope these black politicians learn to find their own voice. Stop chasing Obama and do your own thing!!! The Obama effect was a once and a life time event. If these politicians think it means anything else, they are kidding themselves.

Ex RNC Staffer Allison Meyers, charge your scapegoating to the game.

Allison Meyers, director of the Young Eagles program, was fired by the Republican National Committee for their latest public relations fiasco. Apparently $2,000 was wasted at a bondage-themed night club called Voyeur. I guess the Young Republicans wanted a nice fun filled evening to unwind after a hard day of work. Or maybe they just really enjoy erotic entertainment (Republican sexual repression). The Young Eagles program is for donors under 45 years old but 45 years is too old to be a Young Eagle. Meyers slipped up when she asked a fellow Republican to help pay for the evening and then had the RNC reimburse him afterwards. She tried to put $1,946.25 on her credit card but it just didn’t work out for her. I guess she should have talked to the accountants before stepping out for the evening. You have to wonder why the credit card wouldn’t take for that particular amount. All of that money that the Bush Administration Halliburton made off the war and nothing to show for it? If I was at the RNC back then, we would have been flush with cash but I digress… So now Meyers gets the heave-ho because….well RNC Chairman Michael Steele can’t take the hit for this. He is too high up to take blame for this one. In war, the foot soldiers are always the first to get killed. Generals don’t fight wars because they are ordering the foot soldiers to fight. I hope that Meyers has a backup plan. Or maybe the RNC told her they would take care of her after the fact. Either way she took one for the team. I still find it hard to believe that Meyers didn’t have to answer to anyone regarding purchases. Everyone knows that she wasn’t in charge of the money by herself. They say accountability starts at the top. Yeah Right!!! Some needs to tell Meyers to charge this one to the game.

Sayōnara and don’t forget to take Bill with you.

I’m not going to rejoice in celebration because Senator Hillary Clinton finally did what should have been done days ago.

In the last few months, I have realized that the Republicans were right about the Clintons. I also realized that black folks were wrong about the Clintons.

I’m sure that eventually the Clintons will try to get back into the good graces of black folks. They will probably do the rounds of chicken dinners and kissing babies trying to show how much they love the colored folks.

The Clintons showed us who they really are, with the southern strategy, “hard” working white folks, and the reference to a presidential candidate’s assassination.

They have forever lost my respect and my vote - two things that I hold sacred.

North Carolina beats the brakes off of Hillary Clinton

Senator Hillary Clinton got her head handed to her by the South and was slowed down by the Midwest. If her campaign had not decided to use the Southern Strategy on Senator Barack Obama, I might feel a little sad for her. Sike!!! The only house with the word white in it that Hillary will be going to is White Castle. It was good to see North Carolina in play for a primary. The best part about it was that we didn’t sneak ahead like other states just to make a name for ourselves. Don’t think that I’m not enjoying our 15 mins of fame. My relatives from Pennsylvania are asking us how we did what they couldn’t do. I told them that I guess all the racists don’t live in the south. Ha! Ha! just jokes people…

When they are gone, how shall we remember them?

What a crazy week! First Bobby Brown is coming out with a tell all book. Then my barber left town without even telling me. What am I suppose to do now? A barber is more than just someone that cuts your hair. They are marriage counselors and therapists as well. I was with this guy when he use to cut hair in a rinky dink barbershop in a really bad neighborhood. The kind of neighborhood where people sell meat out of the pockets of the coats that they wore. These weren’t Japanese coats that were refrigerated by some new modern science. I’m talking about triple fat goose jackets and long leather trench coats. I never bought any of the meat but I heard the pork chops were very tasty. They also had someone that took orders for basketball jerseys. You would tell them what you wanted and miraculously the jersey would appear in the size you requested. This was not a representative of the store that walked around to each barbershop advertising goods and services. This was just some dude that would steal what you wanted and charge you less than half of what it originally costs. This was before the economy took a nose dive so I can only imagine what he does for cash now.
My barber kept saying he was going to leave but I didn’t believe him. He said a lot of stuff that was questionable so how was I to know he was serious this time. I never took any of his marriage advice because it was the kind that would either get me thrown out the house or locked up. I never did take him up on his offers to go to the club because it would either get me divorced or locked up. I remember barbers that use to cut hair when I was growing up. They were masterful hair technicians that were wise in their knowledge of the world. They were middle aged men that grew up listening to the Temptations, O’Jays, Earth Wind & Fire. I also remember back in the day when if my mother forgot the haircut money, they wouldn’t mind if she went back home to get it. The barbers I deal with now are younger and they grew up listening to Hip Hop. They have an edge to them that previous barbers didn’t have. So the advice that is given is more Ludacris than Teddy Pendergrass. Even though I never took any of my barber’s advice, I still listened to him anyway. I just shook my head, paid my money and dapped him up until the next time we’d meet. I always thought that this guy was going to get arrested, killed or die from a mysterious disease. I will eventually find someone else to cut my hair. I don’t know what my next barber will be like. I’m sure they will have some kind of advice that they want to dish out. I’m also sure they will know someone that sells “stuff” for half price. I will probably do what I always do after getting my haircut. I will shake my head, pay my money and dapp them up until the next time we meet.
