Is Clarence Thomas worth the call? Do you think he looks like Denzel in the dark?

Ginny Thomas made a fool out of herself when she called Anita Hill asking for an apology. If you don’t know anything about the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill saga, you were either in a coma, outer space, or a newborn. Apparently Ginny is still upset over what allegedly happened between Ms. Hill and her husband. Maybe she is psychologically scarred because she thinks her husband likes black women. Well let me be the first to ease her fears – that cat doesn’t want to have anything to do with black women. If a black woman was on fire, he wouldn’t piss on her to put the flames out. Usually it is the other way around – a black woman is calling the white woman about her man (post racial love I guess?). Mrs. Thomas needs to realize that no black woman (AND I MEAN NO BLACK WOMAN) wants her husband. Well maybe a single version of Conservative Black Woman would like him?

When I first heard about the phone call I thought Mrs. Thomas was on the sauce. But I realize that she didn’t really want any drama. She called Ms. Hill on Saturday. What college professor is at work on Saturday? Ms. Hill is a professional lady so she probably did the right thing by turning the tape in. If she called a “Sista” from “around the way”, she would have been thoroughly cursed out!!! After 19 years, she was not going to apologize!! And now after the phone call, she ain’t never ever ever ever ever going to apologize. Mrs. Thomas must be feeling herself because of her new fame. She has been running with the Tea Party (another bandwagon Republican trying to hitch a ride on the train because they think it will boost their agenda) and bad mouthing President Obama anytime she gets in front of a microphone. I personally think that his wife shouldn’t be involved in these activities because it shows bias. But since we are being honest, maybe Clarence is already biased? New information regarding meetings involving Thomas and other conservatives has hit the internet. It’s tough presenting your case in front of the judge when they have already decided the verdict!!!

Side Note: Still think it’s crazy to think everyone in Washington is on the take?

Mrs. Thomas needs to learn how to “CHARGE IT TO THE GAME.” This woman called Ms. Hill like her husband was Denzel Washington. Let’s be real about who Clarence Thomas really is? It’s not like dude is Ebony Magazine cover material!! But if his wife thinks he is worth fighting for, I’m not going to change her mind. I just think it’s funny that the other woman never wanted him.

LeBron, Oscar and Twitter.

White Man told me not to ask why.
Black Man told me injustice should make me cry.
Yellow Man told me to dream big and reach the sky.
Brown Man told me that it’s do or die.
Red Man told me that whatever I heard it was a lie.

This is about two Twenty year old black men whose lives crossed paths on July 8th and the microblogging tool that brought them together. Lebron James gave the weirdest press conference of the century on the same night that Oscar Grant’s murderer was given the lightest sentence possible. LeBron and his management team didn’t know that Oscar’s murderer was going to practically skate. Oscar’s family would have probably been watching Lebron’s press conference if Oscar was still alive. But people on twitter were watching it all go down. For those that watched “LeBron-a-thon” their tweets consisted of issues involving Miami, Groupies, LeBron’s mother’s alleged sexual appetite and ESPN. For those that heard about Oscar’s verdict their tweets consisted of issues involving injustice, crooked cops, pleas not to riot and plans to get free stuff if looting did take place. Team Oscar was hard on LeBron because he wasn’t playing the “Jim Brown” role. His former team owner was even harder on him with his spurned love letter. It’s unrealistic to think today’s athletes are going to get caught up with issues involving race. They have too many commercials and sneaker deals to lose out on. Team Oscar was also hard on their twitter followers who didn’t mention Oscar Grant in their tweets.

A word to my fellow Twitterers……….you can’t have it both ways.

The great thing about my Twitter Timeline is the people that are in it. They come from different backgrounds and they have different interests. Some are pro-black, feminists, poets, journalists, nymphomaniacs, pseudo-activists, entrepreneurs, techies, and college students. They all bring something interesting to the table in their own unique way. I don’t always agree with everything they say but I don’t stop them from saying it. I hate BET but a lot of people tweet about it when they watch the BET award shows. I’m pretty sure that everything I say they don’t agree with either. I’m not mad at Team Oscar for being upset over the verdict. I don’t like it either but I’m not surprised. It shouldn’t be a shock because lady justice wears a blindfold. She can’t tell what’s going on with her eyes covered but I digress….. But I’m also not mad at Team LeBron for not mentioning Oscar in their tweets. Our connections on twitter are like any relationship that we might have with our family and friends. We will agree to disagree and disagree to agree.

Citizen Ojo goes to Washington D.C. for Blogging While Brown.

I waited 2 years for this moment. So when I heard it was going down in the District of Columbia, I had to be there. I’m talking about last weekend’s Blogging While Brown. This is an event where bloggers of color can come together under one roof. Some of the bloggers that were present blog about technology, natural hair, politics and even their personal lives. You also have writers, authors, journalists, and social media specialists attending the event. If you were a blogger of color, this was the place to be.

I took the train to D.C. (alright coming up – not so alright coming back). Amtrak runs hot and cold so you never know how your trip will be. The only thing that is promised is that someone will bring fried chicken on the train. No, not Church’s, Popeye’s or KFC. Chicken from their house!!!

I arrived into D.C. last Friday night and spent my time catching up with my friend/frat brother. But I couldn’t stay out with him too long because I was there on business. I didn’t want to miss the convention because I was sleeping off a late night on U Street. Besides, I would end up back on U Street on Saturday night with another Friend/Frat Brother. As the old saying goes “Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in.” I believe that U Street has a hold on me!!!

I woke up the morning of the convention and was nervous like it was the first day of school. I’m usually shy by nature and I have a hard time just randomly talking to strangers. It didn’t help that I was struggling with my shower before I left (it’s a long shameful story). I finally made it to the convention center and I ended up getting lost. This was even after receiving directions from the security guard inside the building. I don’t know if it was the nerves or the heat but I was off my game. I got myself together and made it to the meeting area.

From the moment the convention started I was in heaven. They provided so much information that I felt that I should have tipped someone. Some of our speakers were from Facebook, Congressional Black Caucus and the Federal Trade Commission.

Side Note: Don’t sleep on this event. This wasn’t something that “pookie and em” threw together. This was a “Real Deal” event. That was truly nice to see because sometimes “all” black folks get a bad rap for “some” black folks putting together mess.

If you want to know the exact list of sessions, check out the schedule here. If you have further questions, hit me up on twitter or email. This experience helped in personal social media journey. I was finally around people that understood me and I didn’t have to explain myself to them. I didn’t have to explain my excessive use of twitter because everyone else in the room was using it too. People didn’t look at me crazy when I told them I was a blogger. It was like finally meeting your real family (sorry mama but I still love you). It was cool to finally meet people that you knew about from on-line. Also it was cool to meet new people for the first time.

I have to be honest and say that my table was the “Cool Kids” table (per the African American Swag Standard Scale). I was sitting at a table full of confident and capable females. They were bloggers, photographers, and social media specialists. I also had some of the most popular folks on the internet sitting next to me. Two of my fellow table mates were none other than Afrobella and Awesomely Luvvie from the House of IG. It was cool because they talked to me like a regular dude and didn’t play me like they were Hollywood celebs. I have to admit that I was a little star struck with Luvvie but I think I held it together (not really but a brotha tried). And Afrobella has that Jill Scott vibe going on so that’s always an extra plus in my book. The following folks were also at my table: Pretty Brown Girl (straight outta D.C.), Danielle J, Adria Richards, and Vivrant Thang. I can’t stress enough how friendly these ladies were. Adria showed me something pertaining to my blog (thank you ma’am) and Danielle J and Vivrant Thang have something in common with me (didn’t know that until we met). I love the name of Pretty Brown Girl’s blog. Check it out and the other ladies blogs when you get a chance.

I am so glad that I attended this event. I plan on taking the information I received and will use it to be a better blogger and social media specialist. I thank Blogging While Brown for reaffirming what I do and the need for it. I also have gained new networks which hopefully will become great friends. This was a true life changing experience.

What Does Wanda Know?

I’m not going to give into gossip so I will wait to see what happens with Tiger Woods. But maybe Wanda Sykes knows something that we don’t.
